SIPs Passive House – Compact, Warm & Wonderfully Light-Filled

Designed by Simone (prior to joining reimagined habitat)

This beautifully crafted home is a testament to what thoughtful design, high-performance construction, and Passive House principles can achieve — even within a compact footprint.

Designed by our principal designer, Simone, before joining reimagined habitat, the project showcases the power of simplicity done exceptionally well. Built using SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) — a prefabricated system known for exceptional thermal performance, airtightness, and rapid on-site assembly — the home delivers outstanding comfort all year round while keeping energy consumption remarkably low.

The house comprises three bedrooms and a modern, efficient study that supports working from home without needing excess space. At the heart of the design is a generous open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area that flows seamlessly into the garden beyond. The raked ceiling in the living space enhances natural light and creates a beautiful sense of openness, making the compact design feel spacious, calm, and inviting.

In the process of Passive House certification, the home benefits from:

A continuously insulated SIPs building envelope

Exceptional airtightness for stable indoor temperatures

Balanced mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR)

Dramatically reduced heating and cooling demand

Consistently fresh, clean indoor air

The result is a modest, highly efficient home that feels effortlessly comfortable — a space that supports everyday life with warmth, light, and low running costs.

We absolutely love this project for its clarity, restraint, and gentle elegance. It proves that high performance does not require excess; it simply requires commitment to good design from the start.
