Woodend Nordic – A Calm, Modern Take on “Less Is More”
Designed by Simone prior to joining reimagined habitat
Woodend Nordic is a home shaped by the quiet beauty of restraint — a design guided by the timeless principle that less is more. When the clients first outlined their vision, they sought a space that felt deeply grounded in Nordic log cabin sensibilities, while still embracing a modern, functional, and authentic aesthetic with an organic, softly bold edge.
Simone’s design (completed before she joined reimagined habitat) brought this vision to life through a refined, understated building form. The exterior is wrapped in dark grey and black cladding, paired with matching window frames to evoke the simplicity and sculptural calm of Nordic cabin architecture.
Inside, the contrast is intentional and uplifting. A bright, light-filled interior unfolds with warm timber flooring, natural textures, and carefully curated dark grey accents. The kitchen — a centrepiece of the home — features a striking island bench that anchors the main living space with quiet confidence.
The home balances cosiness with contemporary clarity. A standout built-in bookcase brings warmth and character to the living room, while a modern fireplace frames serene views into the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the connection between indoors and nature.
The result is a harmonious, deeply comfortable home that blends modern living with gentle Nordic charm — a sanctuary that feels both grounded and uplifting.
