A Smarter, Warmer and Wonderfully Reconfigured Family Home
Designed by Simone prior to joining reimagined habitat
When the clients first came to Simone, their Beaumaris home simply wasn’t supporting comfortable, everyday living. It was too cold in winter, too hot in summer, and key spaces — particularly the kitchen and bathroom — were well past their prime. The family also needed an additional bedroom, but rather than extending the already generous footprint, the goal was to rethink the space more intelligently.
Through a thoughtful internal reconfiguration, the home underwent a remarkable transformation without adding any external floor area. By reshuffling key rooms, we created a new fourth bedroom, a spacious linen and storage room, and a new wardrobe that now beautifully defines the entry — all within the original footprint.
One of the standout improvements is the combined pantry and laundry, which now provides the family with an abundance of practical, accessible storage. This reimagined utility zone brings clarity and functionality to everyday routines.
To significantly improve thermal comfort and energy efficiency, all windows were replaced with high-performance double glazing, and insulation was retrofitted throughout the house. The difference in warmth, light, and overall comfort has been profound.
A clever, compact renovation that proves better living doesn’t always need more space — just thoughtful design.
