Designing Healthy Homes for Healthy Lives

As Passive House designers in Australia, we create healthy, high-performance homes that respond to climate, comfort and long-term building performance.

Specialising in sustainable and healthy building design, we design Passive House and high-performance homes across Australia, using one of the world’s most stringent energy efficient design standards to inform our designs relative to circumstances and budgets. Our belief is that a home should primarily ‘live well’, yet touch the earth lightly and inspire through design.

We have one of the largest cohorts of Certified Passive House Designers in Australia. Our team is a blend of experienced designers and graduates who bring fresh perspectives to the thinking and visualisation of our projects. The combination of experience and unbridled design thinking creates strong outcomes for our clients.

We offer a complete interior and building design service for home improvements and new construction, specialising in energy efficient, high-performance homes across Australia.

With team members based in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and the south coast of NSW, we work with clients across the country, delivering homes that respond to local conditions and perform over the long term.

Our Vision is to help everyone live in a healthy, beautiful, energy efficient and sustainable home.

We’re proud to announce the launch of our pre-designed Net Zero Habitat Homes. Designed as flexible, high-performance spaces, they are ideal for granny flats, secondary dwellings, AirBnB accommodation, or family homes. Developed using Passive House principles and prefabricated construction methods, several designs can achieve a 10-star energy rating across most Australian climate zones — delivering exceptional comfort while using virtually no energy for heating and cooling.

Ready to Reimagine Your Home?

Are you considering building a new home that is comfortable, healthy, and designed to perform beautifully throughout the year?

You may also be exploring whether Passive House principles could transform your existing home into a space that is warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and significantly more energy efficient.

Perhaps you are looking at options for a secondary dwelling or granny flat to increase flexibility or rental potential. You may also be curious about whether prefab or panelised construction could offer a smarter, faster, and more cost-effective building solution.

With current market conditions constantly shifting, it is understandable to feel uncertain about where to begin, what budget to plan for, or whether now is the right time to move forward.

Clarity makes all the difference.

This is an opportunity to step back, ask the right questions, and explore what is truly possible for your site, your budget, and your lifestyle.

At Uncommon, we’re making uncommon living commonplace.

The goal of Uncommon.Living is to democratise healthy, sustainable homes at scale – to make the uncommon common. Passive House design and thinking is at the core of our philosophy and we’re excited to partner with APA on the incubator program.

Embracing the DFMA playbook without compromise. Optimising site yields, delivery timeframes and quality. Reducing carbon impact through the life cycle and delivering a triple bottom line ROI. This is what we do, all while focusing on creating a healthy environment and vibrant community for everyone who lives or works in the spaces we create.

Founded by Michael Drage and Charles Peters, Uncommon Living is the integration of a diverse range of skills and ideas, responding to an urgent need.
