This home renovation in Beaumaris focused on transforming an existing family home into a more comfortable, functional and energy-efficient space without increasing the building footprint.

BEAUMARIS RENOVATION

A Smarter, Warmer and Wonderfully Reconfigured Family Home

Designed by Simone prior to joining reimagined habitat

When the clients first approached Simone, the home was struggling to support comfortable everyday living. It was cold during winter, overheated in summer, and key areas such as the kitchen and bathroom were no longer meeting the needs of the family. An additional bedroom was also required, but rather than extending the already generous footprint, the goal was to rethink and reconfigure the existing spaces more intelligently.

Through a carefully considered internal redesign, the home underwent a remarkable transformation without adding external floor area. By reorganising key rooms within the existing layout, the renovation created a new fourth bedroom, a generous linen and storage room, and a new wardrobe that now helps define the entry experience.

One of the standout features of the renovation is the combined pantry and laundry, which provides significantly improved storage and functionality for everyday family life. This reconfigured utility space helps create a more organised and practical home environment.

To improve thermal comfort and overall building performance, all windows were upgraded to high-performance double glazing, and insulation was retrofitted throughout the home. These upgrades have made a substantial difference to the warmth, comfort and energy efficiency of the house.

This Beaumaris renovation demonstrates how thoughtful, performance-focused design can dramatically improve the way a home feels and functions — without necessarily increasing its size.

Designing for long-term comfort

The renovation considered orientation, natural light, thermal performance and spatial flow to create a home better suited to modern living and changing environmental conditions.
